Tuning up for music, business, design, and tech
One of the benefits of having an open-space studio is that each one of us has a tendency to play the DJ for the day or afternoon–sharing playlists out in the open to help inspire our work.
Each of us have our own unique tastes but I cant think of a time when anyone was really irked about what we play out in the open Well, maybe that one time I played Depeche Mode for three days straight. But I think that has something more to do with variety, no?
During our last in-service week, I walked the team through a music creation workshop using Ableton Live and Push 2. Can you imagine? Not only can our designers and developers make awesome websites, they can now make awesome music too! It was secretly my ploy to try to get the team to form a band.
We all just simply love music at Lime Red.
So, it makes sense that Lime Red are participating in a few activities and partnerships that ties these things together.
Business and Design Mentors
First of all, were really excited to share with you that we are partnering with 2112, Chicagos first incubator focused on the development of businesses and entrepreneurs in music, film/video and creative technology. Both Emily and myself are now resident mentors at 2112 where we will be working with other brilliant people exploring creative innovation.
So far, its been a blast learning about new ideas and technologies in this space. We are so pleased to see that our expertise can help other businesses grow and succeed.
You can find us there every week on Thursdays from 1 to 4pm. at 4245 N. Knox Avenue in Chicago.
Lets Music Hack!
So, we might not be forming a band any time soon, but we are definitely banding together for music and social good.
Another exciting event we will be participating in is the Peoples Music School and 2112 Fort Knox Studios Music Hack on April 9th!
Well be combining our super powers to compete in the Music Hack that aims to connect music, technology, education, business and design. Come out and join our team or come cheer us on as we explore ideas that will help innovate the way we approach and learn music. So much fun!
