Julie Nygaard is a multifaceted individual dedicated to preserving the past, nurturing life, cultivating beauty, crafting delicious pies, and making spaces more accessible and inviting.

With a BFA in Historic Preservation from Savannah College of Art and Design, she combines her knowledge of architectural heritage with a deep appreciation for the stories and memories embedded within old structures.

Having spent much of her career in museum management and administration, Julie understands the value of preserving and sharing cultural artifacts. She recognizes the importance of making cultural institutions welcoming spaces for everyone. She has actively contributed to initiatives to remove barriers and create more inclusive experiences. Whether through implementing accessibility features, organizing inclusive exhibitions, or developing outreach programs, Julie has strived to ensure that people from all walks of life can engage with and enjoy the wonders of art, history, and culture.

In addition to her advocacy for accessibility, Julie is an accomplished end-of-life doula, offering compassionate support to individuals and their families during the sacred death transition. She believes in creating a peaceful and meaningful end-of-life experience, ensuring every person’s journey is met with dignity, comfort, and personalized care.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Julie’s love for nature and creativity finds expression in her role as an avid gardener, an artist, and a talented pie maker. Her hands-on approach to tending her garden, crafting artwork, and creating delectable pies mirrors her dedication to nurturing life in all its forms.

With her husband, two dogs, a cat, and over 75 houseplants, Julie shares a fulfilling life in their lovingly restored 1908 American Foursquare. Their home reflects their love for history and craftsmanship and creates welcoming spaces for loved ones to gather, celebrate, and indulge in Julie’s culinary delights. Julie’s diverse background, encompassing historic preservation, end-of-life support, gardening, and museum management, showcases her commitment to fostering connections, honoring the past, and nurturing life in all its forms. Through her work and personal endeavors, she continues to leave a positive impact, inspiring others to appreciate the beauty and significance of every moment.
