Our process

Our approach is collaborative, inclusive, and driven by social justice.

Onboarding

We want to keep the new relationship energy going when we start working together. We meet as a team and discuss our working values, logistics, team members, roles, software, and the intake we’ll begin collecting. This face-to-face- meeting helps build empathy, eliminating risks and confusion along the way.

When we meet again, we remember that we are all people trying to do what’s best and that assuming the best intention (even in legal language) will go a long way to ensure we all treat each other with compassion and kindness during the work.

This work we do together is transformative. We will encourage you to make some big moves, which can be intimidating. Don’t worry, we will be with you the whole way through, and no question is off-limits.

Collaboration & Research

Our practice is highly collaborative. There are no old-fashioned big reveals along the way except when someone has an incredible idea (it happens all the time).

We use tried-and-true design collaboration models and Human-Centered Design to set goals, uncover needs, connect similarities, and innovate. Bringing together different perspectives and experiences makes a difference when designing things for people to use.

We also validate our ideas through research; qualitative and quantitative. By keeping an open mind and collecting data, we can make decisions faster and create better, more inclusive products.

Roadmap

Once we know exactly where we are and what we must work with, we create a detailed plan to reach our destination. The Roadmap is a detailed document for building a brand strategy or a complicated digital property.

The Roadmap usually contains information about audiences, research results that reveal needs we had yet to think of previously, technical and messaging plans, accessibility guidelines, and a project plan.

This is how we keep our projects from going off the rails, ensure we all make it safely to our destination, and have fun along the way.

Iterative Production

We learn, test ideas, train, and build along the way. When we get to creating, we work in cycles, constantly learning and developing as a team.

So we don’t get overwhelmed, we break projects into smaller bites and ensure the production team understands how an individual’s work impacts the larger team and the final product. Understanding we’re part of a working system helps us develop relationships and compassion for each other as we work together.

We don’t leave critical feedback for the end; that’s an important part of the process as we work, so we’re confronting small issues instead of one big one.

Wrap

When we’re done, we celebrate! And we ensure our clients know how to use what we’ve created together, either implementing their brand or administering their website.

We meet and discuss our wins and ways to improve, connect each other with other resources for the future, and build long-term success.

We’re in this together!

Ready to talk? Let’s do it.

LimeRed was so easy to work with. Their proposal stood out because they clearly stated their plan for project management and we were on a rigorous timeline. The way LimeRed oriented my team to their process set us up for successful collaboration. Their weekly progress reports kept the work on track and we were impressed by how responsive they were. LimeRed also did an excellent job of facilitating design sessions which allowed all the key decisionmakers to think creatively and share their vision for the final deliverable. The end result was a product that everyone was happy with.
